This place is amazing. If you find the rooms in Tokyo constricting, the rooms here are palatial. Of course, the selling point of the hotel is the view and you get tons of it.
The breakfast area overlooks the sea and no matter where you sit, you are guaranteed a view.
There’s not a lot to do in the area and that’s the point. We used it as a base to explore the surrounding places of interest and were always happy to be back at the end of the day.
However, we avoided dinner at the hotel - it was french/western and the portions were too small. Good but small. Also expensive. So we resorted to eating out before returning, or relying on konbini (driving distance)
Reserved Harbor View Twin Room which included 2 double beds. Beautiful view of the harbor, located on a hillside. Bathroom was clean but very small with dim lighting. Our assigned room didn’t include an AC thermostat that you could control …
Let me start by saying that the staff, particularly in the restaurant, had good English and we had no problems communicating generally, which I know has been mentioned in other reviews.||We stayed in an Ocean Suite room for our engagement …
We stayed 2 nights at a Harbour view room. When you were walking through the 5th floor's corridor, the musty smell rushed to your nose and the room was worse.
The room felt aged, inside the wardrobe got mouldy on the wall, dirt marks scattered around the carpets.
The room doesn't run much air conditioning, even you had turned on to the high level. You felt stuffy at night and even worse when the sunshine came into the room. That forced us to open windows to get some fresh air.
I don't know if Ocean view rooms are better but I realize the hotel should invest a.good amount of money in renovation.
I firmly believe that this hotel has had its glory days, but if the dilapidated and outdated facilities are left unmanaged, the hotel's business will only continue to deteriorate.
I especially want to commend the hotel staff for being very attentive and courteous, making me feel more comfortable.
I took my mother on a trip and mistakenly decided on this hotel, which may be quite popular (?) among Japanese guests. The corridors of the hotel are full of photos of the Emperor and the Queen of England. I also saw previous reviews saying …
The best location where you can see the wonderful view of Ise from your room.|It is now one of the oldest establishments in this area, but the service is excellent and we had a pleasant time there.|I visited for the first time in 30 years, …
I stayed here in July 2018 and again in July 2023 and the hotel has not changed. It exudes authentic Japanese luxury. Staff are very helpful (and multilingual) and there is a free shuttle bus that runs from the station to the hotel every 30 minutes.
I stayed in an Ocean Wing Suite and the room was enormous with a spectacular view.
I did not eat dinner at the hotel, but did have breakfast and there were ample western and Japanese options to suit all tastes.
The only thing I would note, and this is not a reflection of the hotel, is that Toba has a lot less going on than I remember 5 years ago. While it was certainly never fast paced, if you're hoping to wander around town and see much, you'll probably be disappointed.
Our group stayed for one night. The accommodations were of modern design and had the most comfortable beds we've slept in during out stay in Japan.
The staff members were professional and friendly throughout our stay, which lifted the total experience. One of our group members had forgotten an item at a previous hotel, and a staff member went out of his way to help us get in contact with this hotel and get the item mailed to our next location.
Overall a great stay, albeit only for one night.
The room was clean and very generous in size. Hotel has a shuttle bus service to pick you up from the station as you arrive which is super convenient. If you get a room with sea views its fantastic. Onsen was busy as its a family friendly environment. Enjoyed their western and japanese dinner cuisine. Japanese cuisine was better in my opinion. Relaxing 2 days and felt rejuvenated after.
With my family, we stopped just for 1 night on the way from Ise. The hotel is really nice and clean, great breakfast experience, great view from the rooms and many onsens available - few of them are outside with minerals in the water ! This is a very good value for money and we would really like to go back there for a longer and peaceful stay.
